Staying strong and remaining a positive voice for newspapers and journalists remains a top priority for the Northern Illinois Newspaper Association.
While our mission is unchanged, NINA is always looking to the future and evolving with the times.
We have seen throughout Northern Illinois a trend of newspaper mergers and newsroom sharing and collaborations.
To keep pace with these changes, NINA has simplified its annual dues structure and has eliminated the previous circulation-number parameters.
Annual dues commitments are now:
- Single, Daily Newspaper/Group Newspaper — $250.
- Single, Non Daily Newspaper or Online Newspaper — $75.
- Individual, including freelancers — $25.
When a newspaper or newspaper group joins NINA, its entire staff is included in its membership.
Freelance writers, photographers, educators/faculty, college students, and journalism retirees are invited and welcome to join as individuals with an affordable rate of $25 per year.
While NINA membership provides professionalism, education/training, and networking opportunities, one of its most valued assets is recognition of achievements through the sponsorship of our annual awards contest.
Hundreds of entries win recognition each year from member newspapers for this popular competition in a wide range of categories. The quality of our work is clearly on display when journalists and newspapers earn awards as the “best of the best” at our annual fall contest banquet.
At a time when it is vitally important to stick together and support one another, take the time to join NINA today.
Spread the word to your peers that membership in NINA will shine a light on their efforts, keep our industry strong and encourage future journalists throughout Northern Illinois.
